Mera Ghar - NET at UNDP Workshop
On 31st October 2025, Mera Ghar – NET, represented by Irza Nasir, was honored to participate in a one-day CSO Capacity Building Workshop organized by UNDP Pakistan at Peshawar. The workshop focused on Building Peace, Strengthening Communities’ Resilience under the Rights Based Community Stabilization Project in Khyber.
The session provided valuable insights and strategies for enhancing Community Resilience, promoting Peace Building, Mediation In Community, and Conflict Resolution, enabling organizations like ours to further support communities.
Second Medical Check-Up and Hygiene Awareness Session at Mera Ghar – NET
On 5th November 2025, Mera Ghar – NET in collaboration with Pakistan Empowerment and Development Organization (PEDO), organized the 2nd dedicated medical check-up session for women survivors residing at the shelter.
During the session, professional doctors conducted general health check-ups and delivered an insightful training on female hygiene. To encourage good health practices, hygiene kits were distributed among the survivors.
Additionally, PEDO arranged evening tea and refreshments for all survivors, creating a warm and supportive environment to conclude the session.
We extend our sincere thanks to PEDO for their valuable collaboration and continuous efforts toward promoting women’s health, hygiene, and empowerment.



German Ambassador’s Visit Highlights Women’s Leadership in Peacebuilding
On 31 October, Mera Ghar – NET proudly highlighted the visit of H.E. Ina Lepel, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, hosted by UNDP Pakistan in Peshawar. The engagement brought together community leaders, project beneficiaries, and government representatives to discuss ongoing community stabilization efforts in Khyber District.
As the world marks 25 Years of the UNSCR1325 on Women Peace and Security, inspiring women from Khyber shared their impactful journeys of leading peacebuilding and promoting stability within their communities.
The Managing Trustee of NET, also Co-Chair of the Women Advisory Group for the UNDP-backed Rights-Based Community Stabilization Project, spoke movingly about the struggles and challenges of women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She highlighted their vital role in building peace, protecting rights, and creating a fairer, more inclusive future for all.
Women Leading the Way to Peace — Mera Ghar - NET at PAC Training Session
The session aimed to strengthen collaboration, define roles and responsibilities, and develop a strategic engagement plan to enhance community ownership and sustainability in District Khyber.
Distinguished speakers, including Rukhshanda Naz, Managing Trustee of 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓 and former Provincial Ombudsperson KP, addressed crucial themes on Women’s Protection in Conflicts and the Role of Women in Peacebuilding.
This initiative reflects a collective commitment to empowering communities, promoting peace, and ensuring inclusive development through partnership and active participation.


Mera Ghar - NET Participates in UNFPA Pakistan’s GBV Meeting
Today on 21 October 2025, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫‑𝐍𝐄𝐓, had the privilege to attend an insightful online meeting hosted by UNFPA Pakistan on Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Food Day 2025 Celebration at Mera Ghar – NET
Today, 17 October 2025, at 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓, we celebrate FoodDay with our survivor women, girls, and kids. The kids participated in a fun and educational quiz to learn about the importance of a BalancedDiet. Along with exciting games, the day was filled with laughter and learning!
Everyone enjoyed a nutritious lunch, celebrating health, happiness, and togetherness. At 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓, we believe in nurturing safety, hope, and well-being because every step towards empowerment counts.

Gender-Sensitive Legal Training for Lawyers in Charsadda
On the 10th of October 2025, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓, in collaboration with 𝐃𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐰𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐫, conducted the second training session for lawyers in Charsadda, focused on 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬.

Medical Support for Women Survivors
On 9 October 2025, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓, in collaboration with 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐏𝐄𝐃𝐎), organized the first dedicated medical check-up session for women survivors residing at the shelter.
This initial session focused on gynecological health, providing essential care and consultations in a safe and confidential environment. A qualified gynecologist conducted check-ups, addressing both preventive and ongoing health concerns.

On the 9th of October 2025, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐫 – 𝐍𝐄𝐓, in collaboration with 𝐃𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐰𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐫, conducted a focused training session on 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨-𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬.

Established under the 𝐊𝐡𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐡𝐰𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭, the Commission serves as a dedicated statutory body to 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐞, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 across the province. It will play a pivotal role in advising the government, monitoring policy implementation, and ensuring institutional accountability on issues concerning women’s rights, protection, and advancement.
This is a landmark moment in institutionalizing gender justice in KP. The operationalization of the Commission reflects a strong commitment to building a responsive and inclusive framework for women’s development, protection, and participation.

Nourishing Hope: Ramazan Support by Mera Ghar - NET

MOU Between PEDO and Mera Ghar - NET
We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pakistan Empowerment and Development Organization (PEDO) and Mera Ghar – NET, Peshawar.
This partnership marks a collaborative effort to implement the WISH – Women’s Integrated Support for Health and Well-being project, focusing on the empowerment, health, and dignity of Afghan refugee and host community women survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). The project will be implemented over a three-month period, from 8 August 2025 to 8 November 2025, and will be carried out at Mera Ghar – NET, Peshawar, serving as the primary facilitation venue for all planned activities.
Project Highlights Include:
6 free medical camps (general and gynecology)
4 SRHR awareness sessions
Distribution of dignity kits
One-on-one mental health counseling
Branding and visibility initiatives
Launch of an official PEDO project website
Under this MoU:
PEDO will serve as the implementing partner, mobilizing resources and delivering key services.

Mera Ghar GBV Legal Services – Quarterly Review
On 2nd September 2025, Noor Education Trust (NET) conducted an online quarterly coordination meeting with referral partners accessing the legal services of Mera Ghar, a shelter and support facility for women survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen referral pathways and enhance coordination mechanisms among key stakeholders working to provide timely and survivor-centered legal support to women affected by GBV across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting brought together representatives from key partner organizations, including UNHCR – The UN Refugee Agency, National Commission for Human Rights Pakistan (NCHR), Sustainable Peace and Development Organization (SPADO), International Rescue Committee (IRC), Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), Society for Human Rights and Prisoners’ Aid (SHARP), Association for Behaviour and Knowledge Transformation (ABKT), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW), and the Directorate of Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment, Government of KP.
This collaborative engagement highlights the continued commitment of both governmental and non-governmental partners to enhancing protection services, legal aid, and empowerment of GBV survivors in the region.
Strengthening GBV RESPONSE: unhcr at mera ghar
The GBV Officer (COI), Ms. Chao Wu, from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency Islamabad, along with the UNHCR Peshawar team, visited Mera Ghar for a briefing session on the joint collaboration between Mera Ghar-NET, and Sustainable Peace and Development Organization (SPADO).
This partnership focuses on providing comprehensive support and protection services to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
The visit highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure safety, dignity, and empowerment for GBV survivors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Community Engagement Survey on Gender-Based Violence
Noor Education Trust (NET) conducted a survey and community meeting across five selected Union Councils (UCs) of Peshawar on 29th November 2019. The purpose of this activity was to engage community activists, raise awareness on gender-based violence, and strengthen referral pathways through enhanced linkages and coordination.
NET Participates in Consultation on SDG 16.10
Noor Education Trust (NET) participated in a consultation meeting organized by #PJN on establishing an Integrated Coordination, Reporting, and Monitoring Mechanism for SDG Target 16.10 – Freedom of Expression and Right to Access Information. The meeting took place at the National Assembly Parliamentary SDGs Secretariat Office on 27th and 28th November 2019, in collaboration with the National Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs, PCHR, and UNESCO. Representatives from the Ministry of Information, PTA, FIA, Police, National Police Bureau, Planning Commission SDGs Unit, Ministry of Human Rights, Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA), Press Information Department, and civil society also participated in the discussion.
NET Discusses “Mera Ghar” Program on Radio Pakistan
The Center for Research & Security Studies (CRSS) invited Noor Education Trust (NET) to Radio Pakistan, where representatives Advocate Mehwish Kakakhel and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman spoke about NET’s “Mera Ghar Response Program”. They highlighted how the program supports women and children survivors of violence through safe shelter, psychological, medical, and legal assistance.

Noor Education Trust (NET) celebrated National Women’s Day with lawyers of the Peshawar Bar Association, paying tribute to the late Ms. Asma Jahangir. The District and Session Judge attended as the Chief Guest. During the event, shields were presented to recognize the contributions of role models from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Ms. Mah Talat, Ms. Parveen Akhtar, and Ms. Surriya Mukhfi. Lawyers from Peshawar, Charsadda, and Swabi shared their perspectives and reflections on the significance of National Women’s Day.
NET and Peshawar Bar Association Upgrade Bar Library
A joint initiative by Noor Education Trust and the Peshawar Bar Association was held today to upgrade the Peshawar Bar Library. During the event, a bookshelf was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, District and Session Judge Mr. Anwar Ali Khan. NET Board of Trustees members, Rukhshanda Naz and Arshad Haroon, presented shields to the Chief Guest, as well as to the President, Ex-President, and General Secretary of the Bar Association.
NET Hosts Seminar on Cyber Harassment and Legal Remedies
Noor Education Trust (NET) organized a seminar on “Cyber Harassment, Blackmailing, Its Effects on Women and Girls, and Legal Remedies” in collaboration with the Criminology Department, University of Peshawar. The seminar was attended by students from the Sociology and Criminology departments. Mr. Azhar Khan, a senior advocate at the Peshawar High Court, delivered a lecture, while Dr. Basharat Hussain, Chairman of the Criminology Department, participated as the Chief Guest.
NET Conducts Consultative Workshop on DLEC with KP Lawyers
Noor Education Trust (NET) organized a consultative workshop with lawyers from nine districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Charsadda, Dir, Swat, and Bannu, focused on District Legal Empowerment Committees (DLEC). The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, with representatives from each district sharing their experiences, challenges, and best practices.

Noor Education Trust (NET) conducted a consultative meeting with the Director General, Assistant DG, Deputy Director Development, Directors, and doctors of the Health Department regarding its GBV response program and the sustainability of NET’s initiatives. Following the training, a group of ten lawyers was formed to facilitate connections between NET’s Legal Aid Services and the District Legal Empowerment Committee (DLEC). This group will also organize several meetings with cabinet members and the session judge to strengthen legal support and coordination.

NET Trains Local Body Representatives on Case Management
Noor Education Trust (NET) organized a one-day training workshop for local body representatives of Peshawar District to promote NET’s services and raise awareness on Case Management and Referral Mechanisms. A total of 39 participants attended the event.
The participants found the training highly relevant to their work, as they often deal with domestic and community issues. They expressed their willingness to arrange women’s gatherings in their communities so that women could directly share their concerns with NET. One participant noted that having previously encountered a Swara case, they were unaware it was illegal, but they now intend to take prompt action in such cases in the future. Others mentioned that they currently have cases in their communities and will refer them to NET for support. Overall, the participants appreciated NET’s services and suggested conducting similar sessions at the community level.
NET Conducts Training for Pro-Bono Lawyers
Noor Education Trust (NET) conducted two training sessions with pro-bono lawyers from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Swat, Mardan, Charsadda, Shangla, Kohat, Karak, Haripur, and Tangi. The trainings aimed to build the capacity of NET pro-bono lawyers and enhance their knowledge and skills in case management. Participants found the workshops very informative, relevant, and practical, praising the quality of presentations, the well-organized sessions, and the comfortable, friendly environment. They expressed that the training met their expectations and appreciated the trainer, though some suggested that a longer duration would have been beneficial.
NET Engages Local Representatives on GBV Support
Noor Education Trust (NET), in collaboration with the Local Government, organized a one-day activity with local body representatives on Case Management and Referral Mechanisms to support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). Elected members from four towns (Town I, II, III, and IV) actively participated, sharing their field experiences and cases they have handled within their communities. The activity was highly engaging and impactful.
NET Conducts Training for Pro-Bono Lawyers
Noor Education Trust (NET) organized a one-day training with Pro-Bono lawyers on “Case Management, Referral, and Networking” on 30th July 2016. Lawyers from the Peshawar district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa actively participated in the session.
Participants shared their experiences and commended NET for its efforts and support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and children.
NET Research Seminar on Medico-Legal Services
On Friday, Noor Education Trust (NET), a civil society organization, shared the findings of a study during a seminar aimed at identifying gaps in medico-legal services, with a focus on forensic work, and the roles of medical staff, police, and the legal system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The “Research Study Seminar” was organized by NET in collaboration with the Provincial Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) to disseminate the research findings. Officials from government departments and non-governmental organizations attended the event.
Zubaida Noor introduced NET and explained the rationale behind the medico-legal study. She emphasized that medico-legal evidence is particularly crucial in cases of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault, where the justice process relies heavily on accurate medico-legal records.
Sabahat Mushtaq, a legal associate at NET, presented the research findings along with recommendations. She highlighted that medical evidence is often a key component in the investigation and prosecution of violence. She also explained NET’s efforts to establish referral mechanisms with various stakeholders to facilitate access to government-provided medico-legal services for survivors.
Provincial Commission on the Status of Women Chairperson, Neelum Toru, commended NET’s dedication to addressing medico-legal issues. She suggested forming a formal delegation of government and NGO representatives to present the findings to the Health Ministry for further action.
International Women’s Day
Noor Education Trust (NET) organized an exhibition on International Women’s Day on 8 March 2016. The theme for IWD 2016 was “Pledge for Parity”, and the exhibition aimed to promote home-based women entrepreneurs, highlighting their contributions to the economy.
NET arranged various stalls showcasing handicrafts, antique jewelry, food items, unstitched branded shirts and suits, and ready-made clothing, all prepared by GBV survivors and skilled women at the community level. The exhibition provided a platform for these women to demonstrate their talents and entrepreneurial skills.

Launch of Research Report on Medico-Legal Policy and Practice
One-Day Training on Gender-Based Violence and Related Laws
Noor Education Trust (NET) conducted a one-day training session with NET pro-bono lawyers and partners on 6 January 2016, focusing on Gender-Based Violence and Related Laws. Lawyers and partners from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa actively participated.
During the training, special opportunities were also provided to lawyers from Shangla and Swat. NET has extended its services to these districts, as it previously worked with the IDPs of Swat in 2010. The services provided at that time included food and non-food items, shelter, legal case support, protection, psycho-social assistance, stipends, and both formal and informal education for women and children.
The participating lawyers and partners shared their experiences and appreciated NET’s efforts and continued support to GBV survivors and children.
Meelad-un-Nabi Celebration at Mera Ghar
Meelad of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was celebrated at Mera Ghar on 31 December 2015 by GBV survivors, NET staff, and community members with deep respect and enthusiasm. The event aimed to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of peace, self-awareness, and mutual support, promoting a life free from violence.
International Human Rights Day
International Human Rights Day celebrated on 10 Dec 2015 with GBV survivors at Mera Ghar and students of Fine Arts, Iqra National University.
Event highlights included a Vigil Candle “Voice for Peace” and a painting competition portraying survivors’ strength, resilience, and pursuit of fundamental human rights.
