Mera Ghar – Noor Education Trust (NET) successfully organized a comprehensive capacity-building training program for Gender Desks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) aimed at strengthening institutional responses to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and advancing women’s rights.
The workshop brought together key officers, public stakeholders, and departmental representatives for collaborative learning, policy dialogue, and strategic action.
Key Event Highlights & Keynotes:
• Official Inauguration: Mr. Saleh Muhammad, Director of the KP Social Welfare Department, inaugurated the session, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to gender equality and highlighting the pivotal role of Gender Desks in protecting women and girls.
• GBV Awareness & Pro-Women Legislation: Detailed sessions covered understanding GBV dynamics, debunking societal myths, and reviewing existing pro-women laws in Pakistan.
• Roles & Best Practices: Participants explored the daily operational responsibilities of Gender Desks, addressing resource constraints, resolving coordination gaps, and sharing best practices.
• State Responsibility & Institutional Support: Key insights were delivered by partner institutions, including the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and the KP Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW), focusing on prevention, protection, and women’s participation.
• Survivor-Centered Access to Justice: Practical guidance was provided on implementing survivor-centered approaches to ensure dignity and justice.
The program concluded with participants expressing enhanced capabilities and renewed dedication to combating GBV, marking a significant milestone in responsive governance across KP.
