Strengthening Women’s Shelters Through Standardized Practices, Protection, and Dignity

Mera Ghar – NET is conducting a three-day Capacity Development Training for Women’s Shelter Staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Women Shelters, from 20–22 October 2026 at Rock City Resort, Fizagat, Swat. The training aims to strengthen shelter services by enhancing institutional capacity, promoting professional standards, and building a shared understanding of safe, dignified, and survivor-centred care for women and children in crisis. Representatives from Swat Dar-ul-Aman also joined the training, contributing to the shared learning and collaboration focused on strengthening women’s shelter services.

The training brings together government representatives and shelter professionals to explore essential aspects of shelter management, including crisis response, admission and exit procedures, helpline operations, documentation, legal aid, psychosocial support, medical services, referral mechanisms, and confidentiality. Sessions also address social reintegration, educational opportunities, vocational training, occupational rehabilitation, and therapeutic community models, highlighting the importance of coordinated and compassionate services that respond to survivors’ diverse needs.

Through this initiative, Mera Ghar – NET reaffirms its commitment to strengthening women’s protection systems and advancing consistent, professional, and survivor-centred practices across women’s shelters. By investing in the capacity of shelter staff and encouraging collaboration among government representatives and relevant stakeholders, this initiative aims to contribute to safer shelter environments where women and children can access protection, rebuild their confidence, and move towards a future defined by dignity, independence, and hope.
